What i’d Pack For This Season in Paris

Three key words to think of when it comes to French style. Chic, classique, practique.

You may be surprised to find Paris is not nearly as trendy, or even fancy as you imagined. I find Parisien style is about always looking put together in classic silhouettes and shapes, and also being practical. You won’t see many locals wearing sky-high heels, or overly tight, revealing, or dressy clothing. What a French woman puts on in the morning can usually carry her right into the evening, because people tend to dress up more in general.

That means leave your leggings and sweatpants at home. You can still be comfortable during the day as you sightsee and stroll the city in a casual dress, or a sweater or blouse and your favorite pair of jeans or loose fitting trousers. Throwing a blazer on top, add one classic accessory (like a necklace , unique brooch, or a silk scarf) and you’re good for the day and night. Sneakers are now acceptable just about everywhere and with everything. But other great shoes to bring are ballet flats, low slingback heels, or a comfortable boot you can dress up or down.

If you’re visiting in the fall - pack a leather jacket or trench coat as an added layer.

In the winter - a longer length, wool-type coat is the best option. Wearing a thin, down vest underneath for added warmth is a French girl secret. Bring gloves and scarf and hat. It’s colder in Paris than you would think!

Here’s some of the things I’d suggest packing for you trip, anytime in the fall or winter.
