This is the year I get serious about skincare.
I’m in my thirties now – things are getting real.
I’ve spent years traveling nonstop with no real skincare plan – just a miss-matched dopkit of products I was given or bought but wasn’t really sure what they did. So I sought out the top dermatologist in Manhattan – Dr. Howard Sobel – the O.G. for R.X. skincare lines. I wanted a plan that I knew I could trust, and products I knew would work.
He set me up with his entire, new skincare line he created for Sephora, and a routine to follow to keep my skin bright, clear, hydrated, and wrinkle-free. The bottles were pretty, Dr. Sobel is a blast, and I got home and cleared out everything in my medicine cabinet to give this a real shot.
But I waited two months before writing about it or sharing it, because I wanted to see how the products REALLY worked. I get sent skincare products all the time, and I see people promoting skincare products all the time. It is such a saturated market and half the words on the bottles seems like another language. It takes time to see results from something, so for me, I’ll never recommend something until I have really tried and tested, and believe it’s the real deal.
I’ve been following my new regime for two full months now, and my face feels like butter. The fancy French butter from Brittany. I’ve seen a noticeable difference in the fine lines around my eyes caused from running outside, and the sunspots my nose gets every time I go to the beach no matter how much damn SPF I put on there. I also believe my skin has more of a glow – maybe that’s due to Paris, but I think it’s due to Dr. Sobel and his Vitamin C cream I use every morning.
What makes these products really special and worth the cost is that they are prescription-grade. The concentration of anti-aging ingredients in them are higher than you can find anywhere else on a shelf. The most amazing part is despite the concentration being high, there is zero irritation. I’ve had a little dryness that always happens to me in the winter. Other than that – not a single concern and my skin has been perfect. I very rarely bother with makeup, so for me, when my face is glowing and flawless is the best feeling.
I am very lucky to have the whole line, so I’ll outline my routine below, but if you can’t splurge on everything, invest first in the Glycolic Peel you can do at home twice a week in two minutes. This was the biggest game-changer to me! It’s 30% Glycolic Acid that exfoliates, brightens, and actually smooths your face.
My Daily Regime
2x per week
27% Glycolic Acid Facial Cleanser (Never on the same day as the peel)
You can also get medical-grade facials at Sobel Skincare, and the works of non-invasive procedures. I’m so glad I found a skincare doctor I really trust so that as my skin needs different things to keep looking it’s best, I’ve got my guru handy!
